Do
- Choose solid colours. Navy, charcoal, deep green, burgundy and classic neutrals photograph beautifully and keep the focus on your face.
- Bring 2 to 3 options. A polished look, a smart-casual look, and one with a jacket or layer. We'll pick what works on camera.
- Mind the neckline. Necklines that frame the collarbone and jaw read clean and confident.
- Steam everything. Wrinkles are the number one thing we end up retouching, five minutes with an iron saves it.
- Dress for the role you want. A founder, a lawyer and a creative each have a "uniform." Aim one notch above your everyday.
Don't
- Avoid loud patterns, logos and thin stripes. They distract and can shimmer (moire) on camera.
- Skip brand-new haircuts the day before. Book grooming 3 to 5 days ahead so it settles.
- Don't over-tan or over-do makeup. Natural reads best; we can refine in editing.
- Don't forget your hands and nails if the crop might include them.
The little details that look expensive
Well-fitted shoulders, a clean collar, subtle (or no) jewellery, and a relaxed jaw. Hydrate the day before, get good sleep, and arrive a few minutes early so you're not rushed, calm always photographs better than perfect.
You don't need to be photogenic. That's my job, I'll direct you the whole way so you never have to wonder what to do with your hands.
Booking your headshots
