Camera shy? How to look natural in photos

You are not unphotogenic. You are just not warmed up yet. Here is how to relax and actually enjoy your shoot.

Move, do not freeze

Walk, turn, sit down, fix your sleeve. Motion gives us real expressions and lines that look natural instead of held.

Give your hands a job

Hold a coffee, touch your collar, slip a hand in a pocket. Hands with something to do stop looking awkward.

Breathe out on the shot

A slow exhale drops your shoulders and softens your face. Tension hides in a held breath.

Bring your person or your playlist

A partner, a friend, or a song you love changes the whole energy. The best laughs are never posed.

Trust the direction

My job is to guide you the entire time, where to look, what to do, how to stand. You never have to figure it out alone.

Give it ten minutes

Almost everyone feels stiff at first. By the ten minute mark you forget the camera is there. That is when the keepers happen.

There is no such thing as not photogenic. There is only comfortable, and we get there together.
